Shootfighting - Mixed Martial Arts
Shootfighting is a mixed martial arts (MMA) style that smoothly blends stand-up fighting and grappling.
Fights may go to the ground in most cases, but ALL fights start standing. First and foremost, everyone needs to know how to handle themselves on their feet. The stand-up component of Shootfighting is derived from Muay Thai kick-boxing. Muay Thai kick-boxing incorporates boxing skills along with the devastating use of kicks, knees, and elbows.
The grappling component of Shootfighting involves take-downs, submissions and ground control. The take-downs and counter take-downs taught are a combination of judo and wrestling techniques. The ground work (derived from Brazilian Jujitsu, catch-as-catch-can wrestling, and Sambo) consists of positioning skills, strikes and a variety of submissions. Submission joint-locks and chokes use your entire body weight as leverage against the opponent and are devastatingly effective, regardless of your size.
Shootfighting is the perfect discipline if you are looking to be well-rounded in your training, want to get in great shape and/or you love the sport of mixed martial arts.
